Oremus:
Extingue in nobis desiderium mundanarum rerum, omnipotens Deus, et intercedente beato Francisco Patre pauperum concede propitius, ut sorte nostra contenti in hoc saeculo aeterna fortius appetamus.
Let us pray:
Extinguish in us the desire for the things of this world, almighty God, and graciously grant that by the intercession of blessed Francis, Father of the poor, being contented with our lot in this life, we may ardently desire those things that are eternal.
Omnipotens sempiterne Deus, infunde cordibus nostris studium castae humilitatis et humilis castitatis, ut imitando B. P. N. Franciscum tibi mundo corde et corpore serviamus. Almighty ever-living God, infuse in our hearts the zeal of a chaste humility and a humble chastity, that in imitating our father, blessed Francis, we may serve Thee with a clean heart and body.
O God, whose Church springs forth through the blood of the faithful, graciously pour forth the spirit of our Father saint Francis to us Thy supplicants, that either we may desire to pour forth our blood for Thy Name, or through the virtue of obedience, we may offer to Thee an acceptable sacrifice of ourselves.
Amen. O Lord Jesus Christ, when the world was growing cold, in order to inflame our hearts with the fire of Thy love, Thou didst renew the sacred marks of Thy passion on the flesh of our most blessed father Francis; mercifully grant that by his merits and prayers we may always bear our cross, and bring forth worthy fruits of penance. Thou who liveth and reigneth forever and ever. Amen.
