| In angustiis oratio |
Prayer in necessity. |
Non iustificatur homo ex operibus legis nisi per fidem Iesu Christi (Gal 2:16) |
Man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ. (Gal 2:16) |
| 1 DOMINE, EXAUDI ORATIONEM MEAM, auribus percipe obsecrationem meam in veritate tua; * exaudi me in tua iustitia. |
1 HEAR, O LORD, MY PRAYER, give ear to my supplication in Thy truth: * hear me in Thy justice. |
| 2 Et non intres in iudicium cum servo tuo, * quia non iustificabitur in conspectu tuo omnis vivens. |
2 And enter not into judgment with Thy servant: * for no one living shall be justified in Thy sight. |
| 3 Quia persecutus est inimicus animam meam, contrivit in terra vitam meam, * collocavit me in obscuris sicut mortuos a saeculo. |
3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul: he hath ground my life into the earth. * He hath made me dwell in darkness as the dead of old. |
| 4 Et anxiatus est in me spiritus meus, * in medio mei obriguit cor meum. |
4 And my spirit is in anguish within me: * my heart within me is troubled. |
| 5 Memor fui dierum antiquorum, meditatus sum in omnibus operibus tuis, * in factis manuum tuarum recogitabam. |
5 I remembered the days of old, I meditated on all Thy works: * upon the works of Thy hands I pondered. |
| 6 Expandi manus meas ad te, * anima mea sicut terra sine aqua tibi. |
6 I stretched forth my hands to Thee: * my soul is as earth without water unto Thee. |
| 7 Velociter exaudi me, Domine; * defecit spiritus meus. |
7 Hear me speedily, O Lord: * my spirit hath fainted away. |
| Non abscondas faciem tuam a me, * ne similis fiam descendentibus in lacum. |
Turn not away Thy face from me, * lest I be like those that go down into the pit. |
| 8 Auditam fac mihi mane misericordiam tuam, * quia in te speravi. |
8 Cause me to hear Thy mercy in the morning; * for in Thee have I hoped. |
| Notam fac mihi viam, in qua ambulem, * quia ad te levavi animam meam. |
Make the way known to me, wherein I should walk: * for I have lifted up my soul to Thee. |
| 9 Eripe me de inimicis meis, * Domine, ad te confugi. |
9 Deliver me from my enemies, * O Lord, to Thee have I fled. |
| 10 Doce me facere voluntatem tuam, * quia Deus meus es tu. |
10 Teach me to do Thy will, * for Thou art my God. |
| Spiritus tuus bonus deducet me in terram rectam; * 11 propter nomen tuum, Domine, vivificabis me. |
Thy good spirit shall lead me into the right land: * 11 for Thy name's sake, O Lord, Thou wilt give me life. |
| In iustitia tua * educes de tribulatione animam meam. |
In Thy justice, * Thou shalt bring my soul out of trouble. |
| 12 Et in misericordia tua disperdes inimicos meos, * Et perdes omnes qui tribulant animam meam, Quoniam ego servus tuus sum |
12 And in Thy mercy Thou wilt destroy my enemies. * And Thou wilt cut off all that afflict my soul: for I am Thy servant. |
